'Skin Architecture' is based around inspiration derived from living skin network systems- magnified skin structures, its construction and 'technology'. It makes references to the interactive mechanisms of our body including our sensory and vascular systems, which all work together to form or support the functions, processes and the physicality of our skin tissue. In particular the installation references the skin properties, which are regulated by our nervous system - neurons sending the information collected from the outer world to the brain by electric impulses. The work is a sculptural representation of skin, which is 'animated' by electric stimuli passing through conductive threads.

When low voltage is passed through the conductive threads, associated with the nervous system's network, delicate linear patterns start to reveal themselves within the soft silicone sculpture. As the resistance heat radiates, the colour-change patterns increase until the entire piece reversibly changes its colour.
