Notes on Skin is an artist book exploring the phenomenology and physicality of skin through scientific and artistic investigation methods such as scientific imaging, microscopy, photography, mark making and screen printing among others. It reflects on the various knowledge systems and information layers revealed through their employment, addressing the same subject matter, and syntheses these approaches into an artistic narrative. The wide range of tactile materials used for the individual pages of the book in combination with various surface treatment methods is suggesting the texturality and materiality of the skin and talks about dermis not only as a biological phenomena but also as a carrier of personal and social histories.
